‘Natura Frammentata’ Review

Photography and Digital illustration Exhibition at Palazzo Pretorio, Chiavenna (Sondrio, IT)

NATURA FRAMMENTATA – Fragmented Nature
An exhibition reflecting on the body’s capabilities and its connection with nature, inspired by Spinoza: «No one has yet determined what the body is capable of.»
Through digital illustration and photography, the exhibition explores how we perceive and transform natural experiences. This visual dialogue invites viewers to uncover the complexity and beauty of a fragmented yet unified nature.

Dialogue Between Languages
Photography and illustration intertwine to redefine our perception of nature: fragments that reconstruct a deeper unity.

Digital Illustration: «Diary of a Magpie»
A series exploring human duality through the figure of the magpie.

  • Symbolism and Geometry:
The magpie combines organic and geometric forms, reflecting on the resilience and fragility of human existence.
  • Transformation:
A call to the continuous evolution of life, between limits and the infinite.

Photography: A Lens on the Natural
Photography captures details that elude the everyday gaze.

  • Echoes of the Earth (Landscapes):
Images suspended between reality and dreamlike realms, where light sculpts forms and reveals textures. Each landscape becomes an immersive experience.
  • The Pulse of the Minuscule (Details):
Close-ups of leaves, petals, and natural patterns transform the microcosm into a universal language. Precise compositions highlight the beauty of both the small and the immense.
  • Ordo et Nexus:
A photographic series within the exhibition Fragmented Nature that visually explores the cycles and connections shaping life and death, inspired by Spinoza’s philosophy of immanence. Through carefully crafted compositions, the series juxtaposes light and shadow, natural textures, and muted earthy tones to symbolize the tension between presence and absence, fragility and permanence. Fragmentation serves as both an artistic and conceptual tool, suggesting that each image is part of a greater interconnected whole, echoing nature’s infinite system of cause and effect. By transforming everyday landscapes into philosophical meditations, the series invites viewers to reconsider their place within life’s unbroken cycle, where life and death coexist in a perpetual state of transformation.

Diary of a Magpie

An exploration of the form and duality of the body in the world.
“No one has yet determined what a body can do.”
With this maxim, Spinoza invites us to explore the misunderstood potential of the body: fragile and resilient, finite and infinite, always connected to the forces that flow through it.
Magpies become the symbol of the human being: reflections of light and shadow, creatures of paradox. A visual journey through form and matter, fragility and transformation, celebrating the body as a continuous process—never isolated, but always in relation.
